ITIL 4 → ITIL (Version 5)

When does PeopleCert plan to sunset ITIL 4?

PeopleCert's current plan is to sunset all ITIL 4 modules on 31 December 2027.

What PeopleCert has announced

  • PeopleCert's current plan is to sunset all ITIL 4 modules on 31 December 2027. Exam voucher validity dates for ITIL 4 will be announced later.
  • ITIL Foundation (Version 5) is available now, and the ITIL (Version 5) scheme is being released in phases. Its higher-level pathways are ITIL Practice Manager, ITIL Managing Professional, and ITIL Strategic Leader, with ITIL Transformation (Version 5) as a core module in every pathway.
  • The optional ITIL Foundation Bridge (Version 5) module, a one-day route from ITIL 4 to the Version 5 Foundation certificate, is also scheduled to retire on 31 December 2027.

The official PeopleCert ITIL Foundation (Version 5) mock exam costs US$109 in the United States (price checked Oct 9, 2026).

What stays valid

  • PeopleCert says ITIL 4 qualifications are fully recognized as prerequisites for higher-level ITIL (Version 5) certifications. If you hold ITIL 4 Foundation, you don't need to retake Foundation to move up.
  • ITIL (Version 5) certificates carry a three-year renewal date. Passing any ITIL (Version 5) certification also renews your ITIL 4 certifications, because all ITIL certificates sit in one product suite.

Which path fits you?

PeopleCert recommends a path based on the ITIL certificate you already hold.

  • New to ITIL: start with an ITIL Foundation exam. While ITIL 4 exams are still offered you can choose either version. Check PeopleCert or your training provider for availability.
  • You hold ITIL 4 Foundation: you can go straight to higher-level Version 5 modules. The Foundation Bridge (Version 5) is optional.
  • You're one module away from ITIL 4 Managing Professional: PeopleCert recommends finishing that last ITIL 4 module, then taking the ITIL Managing Professional Transition (Version 5) module.
  • You hold ITIL 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan and Improve: PeopleCert recommends ITIL Strategy (Version 5) plus ITIL Transformation (Version 5) for the ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5) designation.

What the Version 5 Foundation page covers

PeopleCert's ITIL Foundation (Version 5) page describes Foundation-level study as digital product and service management, the four dimensions, the ITIL Value System and guiding principles, the product and service lifecycle, and management practices.

CompTIA Security+: SY0-701 → SY0-801

When does Security+ V8 replace SY0-701?

CompTIA expects Security+ V8 (SY0-801) on or around 17 November 2026, and English SY0-701 retires on 11 June 2027.

  • CompTIA says Security+ V8 (SY0-801) is expected to launch on or around November 17, 2026.
  • Security+ V7 (SY0-701) is available today and retires on June 11, 2027 in English, and August 13, 2027 in Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Thai.
  • CompTIA lists both versions with a maximum of 90 questions (multiple-choice and performance-based), 90 minutes, and a passing score of 750 on a 100–900 scale.

What we offer: our CompTIA Security+ pack is built on the SY0-701 objectives (original exam-style questions plus vocabulary across the five SY0-701 domains). It does not cover SY0-801. We'll label a pack SY0-801 only after its questions match CompTIA's published V8 objectives.

Azure AI Fundamentals: AI-900 → AI-901

Did Microsoft retire Exam AI-900?

Yes, Microsoft retired Exam AI-900 on 30 June 2026, and Exam AI-901 now earns the Azure AI Fundamentals certification.

  • Microsoft retired Exam AI-900 on June 30, 2026. Exam AI-901 is now the exam for the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals certification.
  • The certification itself was not retired. Microsoft says that if you already hold it, no action is required.
  • AI-901 has two skill areas: identify AI concepts and capabilities, and implement AI solutions with Microsoft Foundry. It expects basic Python knowledge. Its English version was last updated April 15, 2026.

What we offer: our Azure AI Fundamentals pack is original exam-style practice aimed at those two AI-901 skill areas, including Foundry vocabulary. It is not a copy of Microsoft's exam.

How we keep packs current

Every pack records the exam version it targets, the issuer page we watch, and the last date we checked it. We review those official pages on a regular schedule. When an issuer releases a new version, we update the questions to the new objectives before we change the version label.
